NEFCO is an international finance institution established by the five Nordic countries. NEFCO finances investments and projects in Russia, Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus, in order to generate positive environmental effects of interest to the Nordic region.

The Nordic Environment Finance Corporation announced on Wednesday that its Carbon Fund (NeCF) has signed Agreements to procure emission reductions from a wind energy project in Jiangsu province, and a small hydro project in southwest China. The projects will be implemented under the Kyoto Protocol's Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). These are NEFCO's first projects in China.

Investment Manager Maria Maliniemi has been invited to a conference for Russian Cleaner Production Programme Advisers. Maliniemi will give a presentation on the possibility of using NEFCO's Revolving Facility for Cleaner Production in order to contribute to the elimination of environmental hot spots. The conference is arranged by the Russian Cleaner Production and Sustainable Development Centre in Moscow 24-26 November.
Managing Director Magnus Rystedt will present NEFCO's climate-related investments in Russia at a side-event at the conference Nordic Climate Solutions in Copenhagen 25-26 November. The side-event will be moderated by Senior Director Harro Pitkänen from the Nordic Investment Bank. The Nordic Climate Solutions is the most influential assembly of prominent thought leaders, innovators, CEOs and policymakers in all fields of the low carbon economy from the Nordic region and beyond. About 1000 international decision makers are expected to participate in the event.
