Within the Nordic-Russian Programme for Environment and Climate Co-operation (PECC) NEFCO has signed grant agreements for nine projects that will improve the possibilities for emission reductions to preserve the biodiversity and help adapt and mitigate climate change in Northwest Russia.
A new financing scheme NEFCO Global Facility has been established under NEFCO’s Investment Fund. The new geographical mandate enables NEFCO to finance environmental projects also outside Eastern Europe and to broaden its investment activities to new project countries.
2017 was a positive year for Nopef, with all project activity goals reached. Nopef granted funding worth EUR 2.2 million to 70 Nordic companies over the course of the year.
NCF has directly benefitted 1.4 million people across Africa, Asia and Latin America. The results report covers aggregated results from the overall NCF portfolio, including both active and completed projects and lessons learned.
The Board of Directors has approved a new Gender Policy for NEFCO. The policy confirms NEFCO’s commitment to the shared goals and objectives of its owner countries in promoting gender equality and the Nordic countries’ role as a leading example in delivering on the Sustainable Development Goals that call for gender-responsive approaches
The Finnish company Fortum Environmental construction has started the sample taking at the Krasny Bor landfill. Fortum is taking samples from the open lagoons at the landfill this week, which will then be transported to the laboratory in Riihimäki, Finland, for analysis.
